A King’s College London study concludes that for as simple as sleeping for longer each night, one could reduce his intake of sugary foods and lead to a healthier diet.

Extended sleep resulted in a 10-gram reduction in reported intake of free sugars

The researchers looked at increasing the sleep hours of participants who habitually slept for less than the seven-hour recommended minimum for adults.

They found that extending sleep resulted in a 10-gram (≈ 2 ½ teaspoons) reduction in reported intake of free sugars (sugars added to food by manufacturers, or those added at home). They also noticed trends for reduce intake of total carbohydrates intake.
